Dear Ms. Davidow,

I’m writing to provide an introduction to you about myself, and let you know any interesting facts and details that you may not have already known about me. This is my second semester at City College and I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can about Writing for Engineering.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn and have lived in the same home my entire life. My family moved from Bangladesh when my siblings were young, so sometimes I feel disconnected from the rest of them as they have a personal connection to our country of origin, while I have only been there once when I was 10, and did not enjoy it much. I’d love to go back one day with my siblings and cousins however, as I feel that with the right people the trip can be a lot of fun.

My favorite subjects in school were math and gym. However, this has changed a lot since college began. For starters, gym is no longer a class I have so that cannot really be one of my favorites my default. To add on, math isn’t as fun as it used to be, and is more like a chore, and just overall really difficult. For these reasons, I think my new favorite subject is English. It’s a great way to express oneself and write about their personal thoughts or subjects they are passionate about.

My extracurricular activity in high school was football. I am very grateful for the team I played for, and joining it is probably one of the greatest decisions I ever made. Both my brother and cousin played for the Brooklyn Technical High School Football Team before me, and it felt like a bit of a legacy continuation to join myself. I was horrible when I began, but as I grew so did my knowledge and experience in football. In my sophomore year I was disappointed not to be the JV captain despite holding a leadership position, but I used that hurdle as fuel for the future. In my senior year, I was the Varsity captain, and it felt as if all my hard work paid off. The friends I made on the football team are the closest people to me even today, and my coaches are the greatest inspirations in my life. I even have a job at the moment under one of my favorite coaches. All in all, football is what made me who I am today, and I am proud of the person it shaped me into.

My dream for the future is to be able to be financially stable enough to continue my poor spending habits without worrying about it. I spend way too much money that I don’t even have and that eventually drained my bank account. I know I should probably try to fix my habit, and I suppose that too is a dream of mine. However, to be able to continue that habit, despite how bad it is, and not worry about it at all would be far more desirable. Therefore, I hope I can work hard enough to get a really great engineering job and spend money as I please. With that, I can potentially spend a lot of money on not just myself, but my partner and kids as well.

That concludes the introduction of myself, as I do not know what else I can add. I’d love to learn a lot about you as well throughout this semester too! Overall, I hope to really enjoy this class while learning a lot as well.

Sincerely, Ahasan Bahar
